It is critically important because our company is a small team and Zcash is a big mission, which is increasingly supported by other people and organizations. Sharing More Responsibility to the FoundationTo achieve sustainability and growth of the Zcash ecosystem, a diverse effort from a variety of organizations and individuals is essential. While the Electric Coin Company was the catalyst needed for cultivating Zcash out of its roots as academic research into a real-world, global cryptocurrency, dependence on this single organization could not suffice long-term. The Zcash Foundation was conceived to serve as a complimentary, non-profit arm to represent wider interests. It serves as part of the governance model, to balance bootstrapping the engineering resources required to reach and maintain an in-production network with a forward-looking vision to incorporate interests from a growing, diverse community. |
Zcash Counterfeiting Vulnerability Successfully RemediatedEleven months ago we discovered a counterfeiting vulnerability in the cryptography underlying some kinds of zero-knowledge proofs. The vulnerability was specific to counterfeiting and did not affect user privacy in any way. The counterfeiting vulnerability has been fully remediated in Zcash and no action is required by Zcash users. Blossom planning underwayThis past November we worked both internally and across the wider community to gather information and capacity-plan in order to achieve the proposed Blossom goals. Our final list of goals the Company will implement and support in the Blossom network upgrade is detailed in a recent blog. |
